The Operational Fuel Treatment Program was developed to allow communities to carry out larger scale fuel management treatments in the urban interface. Funding is available for projects in Mountain Pine Beetle or non-Mountain Pine Beetle affected areas.

Ideally, the community will have completed a Community Wildfire Protection Plan or equivalent and a pilot project prior to embarking on an operational fuel management project.

The program was developed due to recommendations from the “Filmon” report “Firestorm 2003 Provincial Review”, and is funded by the Ministry of Forests and Range. Administration is provided by the Union of BC Municipalities.
